The Left and the Future of Europe – Join us for an evening of discussion!

The Left Alliance together with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation have invited leftist from Nordic and Central Eastern Europe to come together in Helsinki and discuss leftist perspectives on security, common strategies to tackle these challenging times and how to support each other and create even stronger leftist solutions and paths forward.

Europe today is facing multiple challenges: The Far Right is rising, we are far from stopping climate and nature catastrophes from becoming our future reality, workers across the continent are facing inhumane conditions. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine continues with devastating consequences. We in the left need to come together and present common visions of a better Europe as well as concrete solutions that defend democracy, support Ukraine, and bring us fairer societies for all.

We will start the event with a keynote speech by researcher Timo Miettinen on the future of Europe. Timo Miettinen is an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki. He is specialized in European history, politics, and philosophy.

After that there will be a panel discussion with international participants and Left Alliance leader Li Andersson.

We will update the event with the names of the other panelists.

The event will take place on Friday, March 22 from 7 pm to 9 pm at Bruket Cafe in Helsinki (Kaikukatu 4b). The venue has an accessible entrance and a toilet.

Join us for an evening of discussion and meeting leftist from many countries!

The language of the event is English.
