The Left Alliance works to build a fair Finland for everyone. We want every person to have access to a sufficient income, comprehensive public services, and high-quality, safe healthcare and care.
We are building a society where every child has access to high-quality early years education and primary schooling, where everyone can see a doctor quickly, and where everyone has an equal opportunity to find an affordable home.
In our Finland, no one is left behind. Our Finland is ecologically and climatically sustainable. In our Finland, people make a living through work and can cope with the demands of their jobs. Let’s work together to make Finland an even better place to live and thrive. For everyone, not just a few!
TARGET Programme and GOALS
The Objectives Programme sets out the Left Alliance’s policies for building a better world. The programme is supplemented by the Policy Programme adopted in 2022.
An economy that serves the people
At the heart of the Left Alliance’s economic policy lies the promotion of equality and democracy. The extreme concentration of wealth has also led to a concentration of power. Our aim is to reverse this dangerous trend in Finland, Europe and globally.
Growth within the limits of the Earth’s carrying capacity
The most important question of our time is how we can succeed in mitigating the man-made ecological crisis. Our society must be ecologically restructured, and fair climate and environmental policies must be at the heart of all decision-making.
A good life for everyone
The pursuit of profit is not compatible with welfare services. In recent decades, our service system has become more unequal as a result of budget cuts and privatisation. People on low incomes suffer from more illnesses and face unreasonably long waiting times to receive treatment. The welfare state must look after people at every stage of their lives.
a world where there is no need to fear
The security situation in Europe has deteriorated significantly in recent years. The intensification of competition between major powers, together with the rise of international populism and nationalism, threatens the rules-based international order. International cooperation is needed to resolve major problems.
The Left Alliance’s working groups 2026–2028
The working groups prepare the Left Alliance’s policies and manifestos. They bring together experts and active members from various fields, monitor developments in their respective areas, contribute to policy work and produce background material to support the party’s decision-making.
