I believe Finland needs policies that restore the value placed on education. Every child and young person has the right to wellbeing, to grow up in peace, and to learn the knowledge and skills they need at school. We need an equal working life where exploitation has been rooted out. We need a Finland where everyone has a home of their own and a safe everyday life, and where help is available when it’s needed.
The Left Alliance is my party because it consistently defends education, culture, workers’ rights, equality, the environment and essential everyday services such as public healthcare. A society’s civilisation and worth are measured by how it treats its most vulnerable.
In politics, you achieve the most by looking into issues and relying on facts. You always have to consider what lies behind a proposal and who benefits from it. Politics is cooperation with trade unions, civil society organisations, researchers and activists. It is hundreds upon hundreds of conversations with ordinary people. It is demonstrations, initiatives, encounters, strikes and a struggle for power. Left-wing politics means action and deeds for a good everyday life, not just fine speeches.
